TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Sulawesi, Sulawesi Utara, Menado .

DISTRIBUTION: N.E. and C. Sulawesi.

COMMENT: Includes thysanurus; see Musser, 1971, Zool. Meded., 45: 147- 157. Formerly placed in subgenus Maxomys of Rattus by Laurie and Hill, 1954:118, and in Rattus ; but see Musser et al., 1979, J. Mammal., 60:592-606, who revised Maxomys , and Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat. Hist., 168(3):274-286.
