DISTRIBUTION: Sierra Leone to N. Tanzania; W. Sudan; Ethiopia; Kenya; Uganda; Zaire; N.W. Angola; Zambia; Malawi.
COMMENT: Includes lynesi ; see Misonne, 1974, Part 6: 20. L. fasciatus is a synonym; see Van der Straeten, 1975, Unpubl. Ph.D. Dissertation, Antwerp. Formerly included mittendorfi ; see Van der Straeten and Verheyen, 1980, Mammalia, 44:73. Type locality clarified by Thomas, 1911, Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1911:120- 158.
