TYPE LOCALITY: Kenya, Mt. Elgon, Kirui .

DISTRIBUTION: Uganda; Kenya; Zaire; Malawi; Mozambique.

COMMENT: Petter and Matthey, 1975, Part 6.7:2, suggested that two species may be involved based on differing karyotypes. Possibly conspecific with mahomet ; see Yalden et al., 1976, Monitore Zool. Ital., n.s., suppl. 8(l):30.
