TYPE LOCALITY: Egypt, Cairo .
DISTRIBUTION: Cyprus; Western Sahara to Egypt; Nigeria; Ethiopia; Somalia; Sudan; Kenya; Uganda; Jordan; Lebanon; Syria; Yemen; Oman; S. Iraq; Iran; Pakistan.
COMMENT: Includes cineraceus, hawashensis , johannis , kempi , and percivali ; see Setzer, 1975, Part 6.5:1. Includes dimidiatus, albigena , hunteri , and ignitus ; see Yalden et al., 1976, Monitore Zool. Ital., n.s., suppl. 8(1):42; Corbet, 1978: 142-143, and Osborn and Helmy, 1980, Fieldiana Zool., n.s., 5:297-298; but also see Setzer, 1975, Part 6.5:1, who listed dimidiatus as a distinct species which included hystrella and intermedius . Includes louisae ; see Yalden et al., 1976, Monitore Zool. Ital., n.s., suppl. 8(1):1 — 118, but also see Setzer, 1975, Part 6.5:2, who included louisae in subspinosus . A. percivali is probably a distinct species from Kenya, Uganda and Sudan (DS).
