DISTRIBUTION: S.W. peninsula and C. Sulawesi.

COMMENT: Formerly included in Rattus ; see comment under genus. Formerly included in adspersus (which is now in andreiosi); includes sericatus; see Musser, 1973, Am. Mus . Novit., 2511:24.
