TYPE LOCALITY: Sri Lanka, Ohiya, W. Haputale, 6000 ft. (1829 m) .

DISTRIBUTION: Uva Prov. ( Sri Lanka).

COMMENT: Formerly included in Maxomys (see Musser et al., 1979, J. Mammal., 60:592-605), Rattus , and in the Leopoldamys and Niviventer groups (see Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat. Hist., 168(3): 267-274).
