COMMENT: Includes Mastomys , Myomys , and Myomyscus ; see Misonne, 1974, Part 6: 24, who also included Hylomyscus in this genus; but also see Robbins et al., 1980, Ann. Carnegie Mus ., 49(2):31-48, who considered Hylomyscus a distinct genus and is followed here. Mastomys, Myomyscus , and Praomys including Myomys (here considered subgenera), may be distinct genera; see Van der Straeten, 1979, Afr. Small Mamm.
