TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Seram, Mt. Manusela .

DISTRIBUTION: Seram ( Indonesia).

COMMENT: Formerly included in the monotypic genus, Nesoromys ; see Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus . Nat. Hist., 169: 137, 168, and comment under Rattus ; closely related to, or part of, the R. niobe group on New Guinea.
