This species has a wide distribution range and so far has been reported from Africa, Europe, and in the Neotropics from Brazil, Colombia, Dominica, USA (including Hawaii), Puerto Rico and the Galapagos Islands (Ertz et al. 2011; Bungartz et al. 2013; Cáceres et al. 2014b; Lendemer & Harris 2014).
