Sinopoda hainan View in CoL spec. nov.

Figs 14 View FIGURES 14 a–c, 58 a–b

Type material: Holotype: male (SD 1628), CHINA: Hainan Province: 1909, A. Gouvelle leg. ( MNHN).

Etymology: The species name is derived from the type locality; term in apposition.

Diagnosis: Males of S. hainan spec. nov. are similar to those of S. tengchongensis Fu & Zhu, 2008 in having an embolic apophysis with distal part wider than embolus, and a RTA with vRTA shovel-shaped in ventral view and broad, rounded and short in retrolateral view, and a finger-like dRTA but can be distinguished by 1. embolus distally with membranous flange (without membranous flange distally in S. tengchongensis ), 2. embolic apophysis bent at a right angle (bent at an acute angle in S. tengchongensis ), 3. tegulum which is seven times as wide as spermophor and without furrows medially (four times as wide as spermophor and with furrows medially in S. tengchongensis ) and 4. RTA with ridge of vRTA extending only at indentation on ventral view and dRTA shorter than tegulum (ridge of vRTA extending over whole border on ventral view and dRTA nearly as long as tegulum in S. tengchongensis ).

Description: Male (holotype): Total length 16.70; prosoma 7.80 long, 7.00 wide, anterior width of prosoma 3.40; opisthosoma 8.90 long, 5.10 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.39; ALE 0.52; PME 0.34; PLE 0.48; AME– AME 0.27; AME–ALE 0.04; PME–PME 0.47; PME–PLE 0.53; AME–PME 0.38; ALE–PLE 0.40; clypeus AME 0.32; clypeus ALE 0.24. Leg formula: 2143. Measurements of palp and legs: palp: 11.00 (4.00, 1.80, 1.90, 3.30); I: 35.90 (9.20, 3.80, 9.70, 10.00, 3.20); II: 39.70 (10.60, 4.20, 10.70, 11.10, 3.10); III: 30.20 (8.20, 3.10, 8.20, 8.00, 2.70); IV: 33.00 (9.10, 3.30, 8.70, 9.20, 2.70). Spination: palp: 131, 101, 2101; legs: Fe I–III 323, IV 331; Pa I–III 101, IV 100; Ti I–IV 2326; Mt I–II 1014, III 2016, IV 3036. Cheliceral furrow with 3 anterior and 4 posterior teeth.

Colouration in ethanol: Prosoma brown with dark brown stripes, posteriorly with transversal yellow band, posterior margin dark brown. Sternum brownish-orange. Opisthosoma yellowish-brown, median part with 4 brown dots, ventrally brownish-grey. Chelicerae dark reddish-brown. Palps and legs brown. Prosoma and opisthosoma strongly hirsute.

Palp as in diagnosis. Embolus slightly curved, nearly as long as embolic apophysis. Embolic tip tapering in ventral view. Embolic apophysis wide and curved. Conductor long, arising from 1-o’clock-position. Spermophore semicircular in ventral view. vRTA shorter than dRTA, in retrolateral view with small tip at proximal part. dRTA long and tapering in ventral view, curved in retrolateral view.

Female: Unknown.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
