Sinopoda sulawesia View in CoL spec. nov.

Figs 41 View FIGURES 41 a–e, 63 k–l, 64 a–b

Type material: Holotype: male (SD 1144), INDONESIA: Sulawesi ( RBINS).

Paratypes: 4 males, 10 females with same data as for holotype ( RBINS) . 1 male, 2 females with same data as for holotype ( SMF) .

Etymology: The species name is derived from the type locality; term in apposition.

Diagnosis: Males of S. sulawesia spec. nov. are similar to those of S. hamata ( Fox, 1937) , S. mi and S. globosa in having an embolic apophysis almost as long as embolus and a broad vRTA in retrolateral view. They can be easily distinguished from S. hamata by 1. smaller body length reaching ~ 4 mm (~ 20 mm in S. hamata ), 2. spermophore distinctly curved in ventral view (only slightly curved in ventral view in S. hamata ) and 3. vRTA tapering and long in ventral view (round and short in ventral view in S. hamata ); from S. mi by 1. embolus tip narrow (with a widened part in S. mi), 2. conductor short and proximal part as wide as distal part in ventral view (long proximal part narrower than distal part in ventral view in S. mi), 3. spermophore curved (straight in S. mi) and 4. vRTA with one tip in ventral view and dRTA bent distally (vRTA with three tips in ventral view and dRTA bent dorso-distally in S. mi); from S. globosa by 1. embolus tip small and rounded (willow-leave-shaped in S. globosa ), 2. conductor short (long in S. globosa ), 3. spermophore curved in ventral view (slightly curved in ventral view in S. globosa ) and 4. vRTA tapering in ventral view (stout and with pointed tip in S. globosa ).

Females of S. sulawesia spec. nov. are similar to those of S. cornuta spec. nov. ( Figs. 7 View FIGURES 7 d–e) and S. scurion in having the glandular appendages situated ventrally. They can be distinguished from S. scurion by 1. eight eyes (eyes absent in S. scurion ), 2. two horn-shaped glandular appendages on each side (one straight glandular appendage on each side in S. scurion ) and 3. fertilization ducts short and proximal part wider than distal part (long, slender and proximal part as wide as distal part in S. scurion ); from S. cornuta spec. nov. by 1. two glandular appendages on each side (one on each side in S. cornuta spec. nov.) and 2. fertilization ducts long and proximal part wider than distal part (short and proximal part as wide as distal part in S. cornuta spec. nov.).
