Type material examined: holotype female, LAOS: Luang Nam Tha Province: Tham Nam Eng , N 20°43’25.5’’, E 101°9’18.6’’ [730 m altitude], cave in limestone, by hand, 09 February 2005, H. Steiner leg. GoogleMaps , field number of H. Steiner 091/05 ( SMF, PJ 3383 , Coll. No. 63461) .

Additional material examined: 1 male, 1 subadult male and 4 juveniles (SD 1568), LAOS: Luang Nam Tha Province: Vieng Phouka, Tham Klang Hm Prang , N20°42’20.8”, E101°08’06.5”, 830 m, 10 February 2012, H. Steiner leg., field number 098/12- ( SMF) GoogleMaps .

Extended diagnosis: Males of S. steineri are similar to those of S. tham and S. globosa Zhang et al., 2015 in having a very long and narrow conductor with ventrad distal part and an embolus nearly as long as the embolic apophysis. They can be distinguished from S. tham by 1. embolic apophysis with tip straight and apophysis nearly as small as embolus (tip bent at right angle and apophysis wider than embolus in S. tham ), 2. spermophore only slightly curved in ventral view (distinctly curved in ventral view in S. tham ), 3. tegulum with proximal part narrower than distal part (proximal part wider than distal part in S. tham ) and 4. RTA with vRTA long and tip rounded, dRTA with proximal part nearly as wide as distal part (vRTA compact and flat and dRTA with proximal part wider than distal part in S. tham ); from S. globosa by 1. embolus tip rounded in ventral view (tip willow-leaf-shaped in ventral view in S. globosa ), 2. embolic apophysis nearly as wide as embolus and tip rounded (embolic apophysis wider than embolus and tip hook-shaped in S. globosa ), 3. tegulum with proximal part narrower than distal part (proximal part wider than distal part in S. globosa ), 4. vRTA long and tip rounded in ventral view and dRTA long and pointing ventro-distally in retrolateral view (vRTA stout and tip tapering in ventral view, dRTA short and pointing distally in retrolateral view in S. globosa ) and 5. brush of stiff setae at base of RTA absent (present in S. globosa ).

Description: Male: Total length 10.60; prosoma 5.40 long, 4.70 wide, anterior width of prosoma 2.60; opisthosoma 5.20 long, 3.30 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.24; ALE 0.39; PME 0.28; PLE 0.40; AME–AME 0.19; AME–ALE 0.08; PME–PME 0.27; PME–PLE 0.35; AME–PME 0.39; ALE–PLE 0.33; clypeus AME 0.35; clypeus ALE 0.28. Leg formula: 2143. Measurements of palp and legs: palp: 8.50 (2.90, 1.30, 1.50, 2.80); I: 25.80 (6.60, 2.80, 7.20, 6.80, 2.40); II: 28.00 (7.40, 2.90, 7.80, 7.40, 2.50); III: 22.20 (6.30, 2.60, 6.10, 5.40, 1.80); IV: 23.70 (6.60, 2.40, 6.40, 6.30, 2.00). Spination: palp: 131, 101, 2101; legs: Fe I–III 323, IV 321; Pa I–III 101, IV 001; Ti I–IV 2326; Mt I–II 2024, III 2026, IV 3036. Cheliceral furrow with 3 anterior and 4 posterior teeth.

Colouration in ethanol: Prosoma yellowish-brown, medially with brown stripes, lateral and posterior part with yellow U-shaped pattern, posterior margin dark brown. Sternum yellowish-white. Opisthosoma yellowish-white with brown spots, median part with four brown dots, anteriorly with longitudinal white stripe, posteriorly brown, ventrally yellowish-brown. Chelicerae yellowish-brown, posterior-laterally brown. Palps yellowish-brown. Legs yellowish-brown; Fe median and distal part brown, Pa proximally reddish-brown.

Palp as in diagnosis. Embolic apophysis slightly curved in ventral view. Embolus slighty curved and distally slender, in prolateral view embolus tip distally with small membranous triangular structure. Conductor arising from 12-o’clock-position. dRTA longer than vRTA, narrow and curved. vRTA slightly curved in ventral view, in retrolateral view proximal part wide.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
