Three syntype specimens were located, all from the Champion collection. It is unclear where the specimens from the Sallé collection are. The male in the best condition is herein designated as the lectotype, while the other two specimens are designated as paralectotypes. Labels for the designated lectotype specimen are as follows:

“ SYN-/ TYPE ” “ S. Geronimo,/ Guatemala./Champion.” “ ♂ ” “ B.C.A.Col. III.(2)./ Aspidosoma /lepidum, ♂ /Gorham” “Aspidos./lepidu Gorh.”. A red label is added with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Aspidosoma lepidum Gorham /Designated by/Martin and Powell 2020” .
