Several specimens bearing syntype labels were located including two variants from localities different from the type locality. One specimen, bearing a red type label and matching the type locality, is designated as the lectotype. There are also three additional specimens which match the type locality and are herein designated as paralectotypes. Labels for the designated lectotype specimen are as follows:

“ SYN-/ TYPE ” “ Type ” “ Zapote,/ Guatemala,/ G. C. Champion. ” “6” “ ♂ ” “ Photinus /parvulus” “ B.C.A.Col. III.(2)./ Photinus /parvulus,/Gorham”. A red label is added with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Photinus parvulus Gorham / Designated by/Martin and Powell 2020” .
