Material examined.

Canada, New Brunswick, Restigouche Co., Jacquet River Gorge P.N.A., 47.8254°N, 66.0780°W, 13.VIII.2010, R.P. Webster // Mixed forest, in decaying chanterelle (1 ♀, RWC).

Natural history.

Almost nothing is known about the habitat and biology of this species. In NB, one specimen was found in a decaying chanterelle mushroom in a mixed forest. Elsewhere, one individual was sifted from deep layers of wet and moldy oak ( Quercus ) leaf litter ( Klimaszewski 1984).

Distribution in Canada and Alaska.

AB, ON, QC, NB ( Klimaszewski 1984; Bousquet et al. 2013). Aleochara speculicollis has a very spotty distribution, with most records from western North America. The previous easternmost record was from western QC ( Klimaszewski 1984).
