Branchinecta raptor Rogers, Quinney, Weaver & Olesen, 2006 View in CoL
New records. IDAHO: Elmore Co.: Mountain Home Air Force Base, playa pool on Grandview Road, approximately 2.5 km west of Highway 67, March 2010, D. Quinney.
Comments. This giant predatory species is endemic to southern Idaho. This new record represents the third known locality for this species. A series of juvenile specimens was sent by D. Quinney and J. Weaver to one of us (DCR). These specimens averaged 6mm in length and most had partially injested filamentous algae in their jaws, extending back to their limbs. Belk & Ballantyne (1988) reported similar feeding on algae by B. gigas .
