Type species: Xiphidiopsis emarginata Tinkham, 1944 .
Generic diagnosis. Body small to medium in the tribe Meconematini . Fastigium verticis conical, with a longitudinal groove, apex obtuse. Apical segment of maxillary palpi about equal to subapical one. Pronotum comparatively short, humeral sinus conspicuous, or inconspicuous. Tegmina and hind wings considerably surpassing apices of postfemora. Male stridulatory apparatus developed. Procoxa with a spine. All femora unarmed. Lower lobes of hind knees bluntly rounded. Protibiae with open tympanum on each side. Posttibiae with three pairs of apical spurs. Male ninth abdominal tergite with a median process; cerci symmetrical or asymmetrical; subgenital plate with paired styli. Ovipositor with dorsal and ventral margins smooth, or ventral margin denticulated.
