Type Locality: Papua New Guinea, "ranges behind Mt. Astrolabe." .

Vernacular Names: Doria's Tree-kangaroo.

Subspecies Dendrolagus dorianus subsp. notatus Matschie 1916

Distribution: Interior New Guinea: Wondiwoi Peninsula, Prov. of Papua (= Irian Jaya); Papua New Guinea /Indonesian border to extreme SE of mainland Papua New Guinea, 600 to 3650 m.

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable; uncommon.

Discussion: Does not include bennettianus (see Ride, 1970:223, Kirsch and Calaby, 1977:17), or stellarum (see below); mayri may also be a distinct species, but is known by only one specimen.
