Material examined
Holotype male: Arroyo Calafate at El Calafate, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina, 23 November 1999 ( MBR). Paratype: 1 male, same data as holotype ( ZMAN). Other material: 2 males, Chile, date and location unknown, leg. T. Gonser (Coll. R. Gerecke, Tübingen).
Diagnosis
As for genus.
Description
Male: body 664 (745) long and 391 (409) wide. Dorsum without platelets. Capitulum not fused with body. First coxal plates separated, anterior tip of first coxal plates with two long, curved setae. Apodemes of second coxal plates short. Third coxal plates narrowed medially. Cx 4 lying near suture line of third and fourth coxal plates. Fourth coxal plates very long, fourth legs inserted therefore far posteriorly ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ). Gonopore 62 long. Three pairs of widely separated acetabula, lying on a large genital field. Lengths of PIPV: 30, 106, 120, 183, 69. Palp very long, about of length of first leg. PII with a ventral projection with small papillae. Anteroventral part of PIII with a few papillae. PIV ventrally with a small tubercle bearing one seta ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 17 ). Lengths of Ileg45: 137, 139 ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 15 17 ); Ileg 6 not measurable (paratype: 116). Length of IVleg46: 154, 186, 160 ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 15 17 ). Legs without swimming setae. Leg claws with large clawlet and claw blade.
Female: unknown.
Etymology
Named for its very long palp.
Remarks
In the collection of the Natural History Museum in Basel two males were found. Unfortunately, any description of the locality is missing, and these specimens are therefore not included in the type material.
