Diplazium ballivianii Rosenst., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 6: 311. 1909, as D. balliviani .
= Diplazium grandifolium (Sw.) Sw. var. andicola Stolze, Fieldiana, Bot. View in CoL , n.s. 27: 82. 1991.
Range: —Andes from Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).
Ecology: —Uncommon; terrestrial in humid forests, often in ravines, in pastures, along roadsides or in open forests; 200–1400 m.
Notes: — Diplazium celtidifolium Kunze is widespread in South America and may occur in Bolivia. It differs from D. ballivianii by having appressed, often filiform scales abaxially on rachises and costae, and by having proliferous buds in axils of distal pinnae. Diplazium roemerianum (Kunze) C.Presl is also likely to be found in northern Bolivia. It is characterized by large, entire, subequilateral pinnae, and conform to subconform (rarely with 1 or 2 basal lobes) apical blade segments. Desmophlebium lechleri (Mett.) Mynssen et al. (in Aspleniaceae , as treated by Kessler & Smith 2017 b) has ± parallel veins arising from the costae.
