Remarks

Male specimens from New Caledonia have consistently fewer articles (four articles) in the flagellum of antenna 2 than material originally described by Myers (1985) from the Fijian Islands (six articles).

Habitat

Found in coral rubble, seagrasses, macroalgae, sponges, red algae, branching coral Pocillopora sp. , green calcareous alga Halimeda sp. , brown algae Turbinaria sp. and Sargassum sp.

Distribution

New Caledonia ( Ledoyer 1984; current study); Fijian Islands ( Myers 1985); Hawaiian Islands (Pacific Ocean); Tonga ( Myers 1986b); Western Samoa ( Myers 1997); Australia ( Poore and Lowry 1997; Hughes and Lowry 2009); Red Sea ( Lyons and Myers 1990).
