Type:— CHINA. Jilong County, 3700 m, 22 Jul. 2013, Xizang Exped. 3837 (holotype PE-2415608!)

Distribution and habitat: — Onosma bracteatum grows on rocky slopes, morainic deposite screes or river sides. Its altitude ranges from 3300 to 5000 m, widely distributed in Kashmir, North-Western India, Central and Western Nepal.

Phenology: —Flowering and fruiting from June to August.

Taxonomic notes: — Onosma bracteatum is very distinct from the other species of Onosma in Pan-Himalaya in having broad, triple-veined leaves, dark red corolla shorter than calyx, villous bracts broadly lanceolate and narrowed into long attenuated tips.
