Type locality. Parua, Whangarei Harbour.

Broun number: 555.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ capax ” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Parua”, “555”.

Remarks. Broun studied a single specimen which he found at Parua, near Whangarei Harbour (Broun 1880).
