Type locality. Parua, Whangarei Harbour.

Broun number: 1376.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ mandibularis ” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Parua”, “1376.” [in Broun’s hand], “HOLOTYPE” [round label with red margin].

Remarks. Broun (1883) studied a single specimen collected from Parua, Whangarei Harbour.
