Type locality. Mount Alpha , Tararua Range.

Broun number: 3245.

Type material examined. 2 exx. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, “3245” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Mt Alpha \ 4800 feet.” [in Broun’s hand], “ Mesocyphon \ mandibularis ” [in Broun’s hand]. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, “not \ 3245” [in Broun’s hand], “2” [handwritten]; “Mt Alpha \ Tararua” [in Broun’s hand]; “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “morat [?] \ sides” [in Broun’s hand].

Remarks. Broun examined a pair of specimens collected by H. Simmonds from Mount Alpha, Tararua Range. The beetles were found under a stone at an elevation of 4800 ft. (Broun 1912).
