Type locality. Kaitoke , near Wellington.

Broun number: 3244.

Type material examined. 2 exx. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, “3244” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Kaitoke. \ Wellington” [in Broun’s hand], “ Atopida \ basalis ” [in Broun’s hand]. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, same label data as above.

Remarks. Broun examined a pair of specimens collected by A. O’Connor at Kaitoke near Wellington (Broun 1912).
