Type locality. Auckland (?).

Broun number: 551.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Syntype ( NHM): card-mounted, “ Byrrhodes gravidus \ Ind. typ. D.S. \ New Zealand. Broun” [written at base of card in Sharp’s hand], “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.”, “ ♀ ” [handwritten].

Remarks. Sharp (1878) noted he received some very damaged specimens from Captain Broun (probably collected from Auckland) and he had seen other individuals from the same source in the collections of Pascoe and Wakefield.
