Type locality. Upper Taieri.

Broun number: 1384.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Lectotype ( NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “LECTO- \ TYPE ” [round label with blue border], “1384.” [in Broun’s hand], “ Otago “, “ New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Cyphon \ acerbus ” [in Broun’s hand], “ Lectotype ♂ \ Cyphon acerbus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand].

Remarks. Broun examined two specimens from Upper Taieri, received from Hutton (Broun 1883).

Type locality. Lindis Pass.

Broun number: 1387.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype ( NHM): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “Holo- \ type ” [round label with red border], “1387.” [in Broun’s hand], “ New Zealand . [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “nitidu” [in Broun’s hand], “ Holotype \ Cyphon nitidus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand].

Remarks. A single specimen described as Cyphon nitidus was collected from Lindis Pass, Otago, and received from Hutton (Broun 1883).
