14. Panurginus romani Aurivillius View in CoL

Panurginus romani Aurivillius, 1914: 96 View in CoL , Ƥ; Osytshnjuk, 1978: 369; 1995: 527.

Diagnosis. Although exteriorly Panurginus romani fits into the herzi- group of species with shagreened metasomal terga, by the general shape of its pregenital/genital structures, this species belongs to the niger -group with narrow gonostyli, and penis valves apically triangularly widened and bent inside ( P. niger , P. c r a w f o rd i); S6 lacking lateral hair tufts, S7 apically with 2 laterally flattened (ventral view), parallel teeth narrowly separated to base, and S8 with lateral flaps transverse. Female of P. romani can be easily identified by its clypeus with antero-lateral angles protruded, and combination of the following characters: facial fovea well defined, deep, apically widened; labral plate rounded; T1 glossy, smooth or delicately tessellate, impunctate or with sporadic punctures; and the following terga are mostly shagreened.

Geographical distribution. NW Europe to Pacific coast (Siberia, Russian Far East from Magadan to Primorskiy Kray) ( Aurivillius, 1914, Finland; Warncke, 1972, Sweden, Osytshnjuk, 1995, Komi, Magadan Oblast, Sakhalin; Proshchalykin: 2003, Amur Oblast; 2004, Khabarovsk, Primorskiy Kray; 2007, Birobidjan; Proshchalykin, Kupianskaya, 2005, Kamchatka; Sidorov, 2010, Kemerovo Oblast).

Moderately shiny, well sculptured. Vertex and paraocular area on upper part shiny, shagreened, with pits a diameter apart (10−15 µm / 0.5−2); paraocular area below glossy, with coarser pits wider spaced (20−30 μm/1−4). Clypeus smooth, with pits 1–4 diameters apart (20−30 µm). Supraclypeal and subantennal areas shiny, delicately tessellate or smooth, with fine pits a few diameters apart. Genal area shiny, with shallow pits 1–2 diameters apart. Frons shagreened, with sparse punctures. Scutum on anterior 1/3 and periphery delicately shagreened, medially smooth, glossy, with pits about a pit diameter apart (10−25 µm / 0.5−1.5). Scutellum glossy, with pits 1−2 diameters apart (10−25 µm / 0.5–4). Metanotum shagreened. Mesepisternum shiny, tessellate, with deep, dense pits a diameter or less apart (20−25 µm / 0.5−1.5).
