( Figure 2 View FIGURE 2 )

Diagnosis: Characterized by having dorsal shield ornamented over most of its extent with roundish elements; with anterolateral striae; setae J2 and R1 present; setae Z5 serrate; other setae smooth; setae j1, j3, z3, r3, s4, s6, Z4, Z5 and JV5 blunt; movable cheliceral digit with 2 teeth and fixed cheliceral digit with 5 teeth; calyx disc-shaped, with small but distinct tubular section next to atrium; with a pair of large pores posterior and slightly mesad to z5.

FEMALE. (3 specimens measured)

Dorsum. Dorsal shield ornamented over most of its extent with roundish elements; with anterolateral striae; 261 (255–268) long and 124 (123–125) wide. Setae j1 15, j3 20 (19–21), j4 9 (8–9), j5 8 (8–9), j6 10 (9–11), J2 10 (9–10), J5 7 (6–7), z2 12 (12–13), z3 24 (20–27), z4 19 (17–20), z5 7 (6–8), Z4 31 (30–32), Z5 39 (39–40), s4 36 (35–38), s6 44 (42–45), r3 23 (22–24), R1 13 (12–14). Setae Z5 serrate; all other setae smooth. Setae j1, j3, z3, r3, s4, s6, Z4, Z5 and JV5 blunt. With a pair of large pores posterior and slightly mesad to z5.

Venter. Sternal shield smooth; posterior margin straight; distances between ST1-ST3 56 (55–58) and ST2- ST2 58 (55–60). Genital shield smooth; distance between ST5-ST5 44 (43–45). Ventrianal shield smooth, vase-shaped, anterior margin straight, 85 (83–88) long, and 43 (43–45) wide at level of ZV2 and 43 (43–44) wide at level of anus; with 3 pairs of preanal setae (JV1, JV2 and ZV2); ZV1, ZV3 and JV5 on soft cuticle; JV5 30 long smooth and blunt serrate; minute preanal pores posteromesad to JV2. One pair of metapodal shields.

Peritreme. Extending forward to level of j1.

Chelicera. Movable digit 23 long, with 2 teeth; fixed digit 25 long, with 5 teeth.

Spermatheca. Calyx disc-shaped, 5 long, with small but distinct tubular section next to atrium.

Legs. Blunt to slightly knobbed macrosetae; Sge IV 18, Sti IV 21, St IV basitarsus 21 (20–22); macrosetae absent on other legs. Chaetotaxy. genu II - 2,2/0, 2/0,1; genu III - 1,2/0, 2/0,1.

MALE. (1 specimen measured)

Dorsum. Dorsal shield more strongly ornamented than that of females, 223 long, 120 wide. Setae j1 13, j3 20, j4 9, j5 8, j6 10, J2 6, J5 5, z2 11, z3 22, z4 19, z5 7, Z4 19, Z5 20, s4 32, s6 32, r3 19, R1 7. With a pair of large pores posteromesad to z5.

Venter. Ventrianal shield subtriangular, with a few anterolateral striae; 90 long and 130 wide at the anterior corners; with 3 pairs of preanal setae (JV1, JV2 and ZV2), 3 pairs of lyrifisures (respectively anterior and approximately in longitudinal line with JV1, posterolateral to JV1 and posterolateral to ZV2) and with a pair of minute, round preanal pores posterior and about in longitudinal line with JV2.

Legs. Blunt to slightly knobbed macrosetae; Sge IV 14, Sti IV 11, St IV basitarsus 17; macrosetae absent on other legs.

Peritreme. Extending forward to level between setae j1 and j3.

Locality and type material. Holotype female, allotype male and 3 paratype females: Amazonas, Bagua Grande, Quebrada Seca (5° 43' 6" S, 78° 28' 38" W), 2-VIII-2006, on Solanum caricaefolium, A. D. Guanilo , deposited at ESALQ-USP. Two paratype females, same collection data as holotype, deposited at MHN.

Etymology. The epithet poripherus refers to the presence of the large pores next to setae z5. Remarks. Phytoseius guianensis differs from this new species by having macrosetae Sge IV and Sti IV 0.6 and 0.5 times as long as in this new species. In addition, P. guianensis does not have the large pores next to setae z5.
