Description. Length: 6.1–6.6 mm (from apex of right mandibles to elytral apex). Fore body (including mandibles) longer than elytra. Habitus as in Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 .

Brown to yellowish brown, darker on head and pronotum, pale on antennae, palps and tarsi. Moderately shiny.

Head elongated quadrate, much longer than wide, HLm/HW = 2.70–2.13 (mean 2.72), HLl/HW = 1.16–1.93 (mean 1.89), genae nearly parallel-sided medially, widest part of head at about middle from labrum, narrowed posteriorly; posterior supraorbital pores close to neck constriction; right mandible tridentate though teeth reduced in some individuals; labial suture clear ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 a), mentum 6-setose (setae located at base and either side of mentum tooth, and inner margins of lateral lobes, respectively); mentum tooth short and widened, simple at apex; basal foveae not pitted though distinctly deep and large; submentum 10-setose; palps slender, glabrous except the 2nd labial palpomere which having a single seta at inner margin near base; penultimate palpomeres much longer (1.3 times) than the apical ones in both maxilla and labium; suborbital pores closer to neck constriction than to submentum; antennae rather short, extending over 3/5 of elytra, comparatively length radio of the 1st to the 5th antennomeres as: 1.0: 1.2: 2.1: 2.2: 2.3, the 2nd shorter than the 11th.

Prothorax slightly shorter than head including mandibles, PrL/HLm = 0.84–0.87 (mean 0.86), or longer than head excluding mandibles, PrL/HLl = 1.22–1.27 (mean 1.24); much longer than wide, PrL/PrW = 1.90–1.92 (mean 1.91); wider than head, PrW/HW = 1.21–1.23 (mean 1.22), and wider than pronotum, PrW/PnW = 1.15–1.16 (mean 1.16); propleura invisible from above in apical 2/5, widest at about 1/3 from base. Pronotum slightly wider than head, PnW/HW = 1.01–1.08 (mean 1.05), much longer than wide, PnL/PnW = 2.17–2.24 (mean 2.20); widest behind middle, lateral sides not sinuate before hind angles which are roundly obtused, lateromarginal setae at about apical 1/4; base and front nearly straight, subequal wide; lateral sides finely bordered throughout, base and front unbordered. Scutellum small.

Elytra elongated-ovate, much longer than wide, EL/EW = 1.90–1.93 (mean 1.92), twice as long as prothorax, EL/PrL = 1.98–2.03 (mean 2.00), much wider than prothorax, EW/PrW= 1.97–1.99 (mean 1.98), widest at about 3/ 7 of elytra from base, gently narrowed backwards and forwards. Chaetotaxy: the 1st pore at behind level of the 3rd, anterior and median dorsal pores at about 1/5 and 2/3 of elytra from base respectively, the preapical pore at apical 1/14, closer to elytral suture than to apical margin ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 b).

Male genitalia ( Figs. 7 View FIGURE 7 a–b): Aedeagus short and stout, weakly to moderately sclerotized, apical lobe very short; base very large, opening wide, gradually narrowed posteriad, with ventral margin slightly arcuate, suddenly and shortly hooked at tip in lateral view; without sagittal aileron; membranous part fairly large; inner sac armed with a fairly large copulatory piece which is about 1/4 as long as the median lobe; in dorsal view, apical lobe wide, longer than wide, subparallel-sided though apex broadly rounded. Parameres moderately developed, each bearing four long apical setae.

Remarks. This new species is allied to U. deuvei Tian et Chen , sp. n., but it is easily distinguished from the latter by its less convex body, blunt hind pronotal angles and shortly hooked ventrally median lobe of aedeagus.

Etymology. In honor of Mr. Jianbang Ge, head of the Administrative Bureau of Huanjiang World Heritage Site of Southern China Karsts, to thank him for his long-term support to our cave biodiversity study in Huanjiang County.

Distribution. China (Guangxi)( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Known only from the type locality, a limestone cave called Ji Dong (= Shuiku Dong), Huanjiang County.

The cave is about 1000 m long, with a small opening and a large main passage. All the blind beetles were collected in dark areas of the cave. The sympatric cave carabid beetles of U. gejianbangi are Pilosaphaenops whitteni Tian, 2010 and Guiodytes deharvengi Tian, 2014 .
