Distribution. Native. Cosmopolitan; Galápagos: Fernandina, Genovesa, Santa Cruz, Santiago, Seymour.
Remarks. This species is primarily a parasite of wading birds ( Ciconiiformes ), especially herons ( Bequaert 1933).
