Distribution. Introduced. Cosmopolitan; Galápagos: Isabela, San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz (ICCDRS).
Remarks. This species has spread extensively throughout the warmer regions with commerce and is known to breed in human and other semiliquid wastes ( Thompson 1991). This species was recently introduced to the Galápagos and adults have been recorded on flowers of Varronia leucophlyctis (Hook.f.) Andersson and Waltheria ovata Cav. ( Hervías-Parejo & Traveset 2018) .
