Distribution. Introduced ( Wirth 1969b). Nearctic, Neotropical; Galápagos: Darwin, Floreana, Isabela, Marchena (ICCDRS), Santa Cruz, Santa Fé.
Remarks. This species has been reared from a variety of rotting plant material ( Wirth 1969b). Adults have been collected on the sea surface and in aerial nets between islands ( Peck 1994a, b).
