Diagnosis. This species is similar to G. permixtana ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) superficially, but G. curviphalla can be distinguished by the socius with the basal 2/3 parallel-sided and the distal 1/3 slightly narrowed, and the cornutus about 1/2 the length of the phallus in the male genitalia; and by the ductus seminalis arising from the anterior part of the ductus bursae in the female genitalia. In G. permixtana , the socius is gradually narrowed from the base to the apex, and the cornutus is about 1/3 the length of the phallus; and the ductus seminalis arises from the posterior 1/3 of the ductus bursae.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 7 ). Wingspan 12.0−13.0 mm. Head: Vertex and frons pale yellowish brown. Antenna brownish black, sparsely mixed with yellowish brown scales. Labial palpus about twice as long as diameter of compound eye, pale yellowish brown with sparse brownish black scales on outer surface, yellowish white on inner surface. Thorax: Brown; tegula brownish black, pale yellowish brown distally. Forewing with costal margin nearly straight, apex bluntly rounded, termen somewhat oblique. Ground color pale yellowish brown, with small brownish black dots along both costal and dorsal margins; costal margin with a narrow grayish brown stripe from base to inner margin of median fascia, with a small brownish black spot before apex; median fascia yellowish brown, with sparse brownish black scales, brownish black anteriorly, extending obliquely from middle of costal margin to basal 2/5 of dorsum, with three small brownish black spots ranging from anterior 1/3 to above pretornal spot along its outer margin, its inner margin obliquely straight, outer margin slightly arched outward at anterior 1/3; yellowish brown stripe from outer margin of median fascia at anterior 1/3 to near tornus, with a short stripe extending from middle of its outer margin to middle of subapical fascia; subapical fascia about same width as median fascia, extending from 4/5 of costal to above tornus, yellowish brown except brownish black on costal margin, well defined in anterior half, ill defined in posterior half, diffuse to tornus; pretornal spot at distal 1/4 of dorsum, yellowish brown, triangular, almost reaching outer margin of median fascia at posterior 2/5; short pale brown stripe from near base of dorsum extending outward to ventral 1/3 of cell; cilia yellow, mixed with gray. Hindwing and cilia grayish brown. Fore- and midlegs brownish black with sparse yellowish brown scales, tarsal segments with yellowish white rings; hindleg pale yellow, sparsely mixed with grayish brown. Abdomen: Grayish brown. Male genitalia ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12 – 15 ) with socius parallel-sided in basal 2/3, gradually narrowed from distal 1/3 to rounded apex. Valva slightly narrowed from base to rounded apex; costa about 3/5 length of valva; sacculus about 1/4 length of valva. Phallus slightly longer than valva, S-shaped, distal 1/3 attenuate; cornutus about 1/2 length of phallus. Female genitalia ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 21 – 24 ) with papilla analis slightly narrowed posteriorly, about 2/3 length of apophysis posterioris. Apophysis posterioris about 2/3 length of apophysis anterioris, two times length of its basal plate. Antrum short, length about 1/2 of its width; ductus bursae about 2/3 length of corpus bursae, membranous; ductus seminalis arising from anterior part of ductus bursae. Corpus bursae ovoid.

Distribution. China (Beijing, Guizhou, Hebei, Henan, Tianjin).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix curv -, meaning curved, and the proper noun phallus, referring to the curved phallus.
