Lectotype (designated by Günther, 1969: 304) with labels: “ Surinam, Ƌ, Mr H. d. Sauss” [handwritten on ruled white card]; “ Rhipipteryx cyanipennis Sauss Ƌ ” [handwritten on green paper]; “LECTO-TYPUS” [“LECTO” handwritten and “TYPUS” printed on red card]; “ Rhipipteryx cyanipennis, Saussure , det K.K. Günther 1964, Lectotypus ” [handwritten by Günther on white card with “det K.K. Günther 19” printed]. Specimen lacks the right antenna. The head is detached and glued to a card triangle secured on the original pin. Box A4d.
