Remarks: Villarica is new locality record for Ardeicola melanopis in Chile, based on specimens held in MONZ. Besides the holotype, the type series of Ardeicola melanopis includes a large number of paratypes, all labelled as from “ Chile ” without a precise locality ( Shchedrina et al. 2017). Salazar-Silva (2021: 13) provided ecological data on 45 specimens of Ardeicola melanopis collected from 10 birds in Valdivia, Chile.
