Type Locality: Chile, "Cordigliera … delle Province Australi"; restricted to "los bosques del lago Todos los Santos, en la provincia de Chiloé" (Cabrera, 1961:343).

Vernacular Names: Southern Pudu.

Distribution: S Chile and SW Argentina.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA – Endangered as P. pudu ; IUCN – Vulnerable.
