Trifolium montanum Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 772. 1753.

Replaced synonym of: Trifolium spadiceum L. (1755) .

Lectotype (Zohary & Heller, Genus Trifolium : 328. 1984): Herb. Linn. No. 930.60 ( LINN) .

Current name: Trifolium spadiceum L. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Linnaeus erred in giving the same name to two different European species of Trifolium in Species Plantarum in 1753 (p. 770, No. 29 and p. 772, No. 37). Realising this, he renamed this one T. spadiceum L. in 1755.
