"Habitat in Europae fagetis." RCN: 8256.

Lectotype (Howe in Bull Torrey Bot. Club 39: 201. 1912; Clerc in Cryptog. Bryol Lichénol 5: 346. 1984): Herb. Linn. No. 1273.300, lowermost specimen ( LINN) .

Current name: Usnea florida (L.) Weber ex F.H. Wigg. ( Parmeliaceae).

Note: See discussion by Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 311, f. 31. 1994). Howe’s original type choice was subsequently restricted to one specimen by Clerc.
