Material examined. Petro-UFS—1 F; CSL: 5.46 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00079. Penaeid—8 (3 M, 4 F, 1 OF); size range: 3.46 ≤ CSL ≤ 7.00 mm; average: CSL = 4.93 ± 1.16 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00256.
Stations. Petro-UFS—15; Penaeid—6.
Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (from North Carolina to Florida, and Gulf of Mexico), Bahamas, Antilles, Central America, the north of South America ( Colombia, Venezuela), Guyana, French Guiana, Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul), and Uruguay ( Melo 1999; Almeida et al. 2007 a).
Ecological notes. From intertidal zones to 92 m depth. Mud, shell and sand bottoms. It can also be commensal of Paguridae , Diogenidae , and the Gastropoda Lobatus gigas (Linnaeus) ( Melo 1999; Almeida et al. 2007 a).
Remarks. Porcellana frontalis Heller and Porcellana stimpsoni A. Milne-Edwards were considered a synonym of P. sayana ( Lemaitre & Campos 2000) . Specimens collected by Santos et al. (2016) were downstream of the São Francisco River, at the border of Alagoas and Sergipe.
