Material examined. Nha Phu, Dam Bay, mangrove plantation and natural mangroves, over 150 specimens.

Abundance. Common.

Measurements. Up to 29 mm ( Houbrick 1985).

Ecological notes. Spawn are deposited on the undersides of rocks. Larvae are free swimming, but the length of pelagic stage is unknown ( Houbrick 1985).

Generally occurs in dense populations on rocky substrata in the high intertidal zone. Occasionally it is found on softer substrata. It grazes on microalgae associated with hard substrata ( Houbrick 1985).

In studied sites this species was found both on roots of mangrove trees and mud surface sometimes in high densities.

Relation to mangroves. Eurybiotic.

Distribution in Vietnam. Central coast.

General distribution. Western Pacific and Indian Ocean ( Houbrick 1985).
