Planaxis sulcatus: Houbrick 1985: 5 View in CoL –10, figs 1–4 (full synonymy); Okutani 2000: 129 –130, pl. 65, fig. 1; Thach 2005: 47, pl. 10 fig. 26; Poppe 2008a: 298 –299, pl. 94 fig. 11; Zvonareva et al. 2015: 8.
Material examined. Dam Bay, natural and planted mangroves, about 20 specimens.
Abundance. Common.
Measurements. Up to 25 mm ( Okutani 2000).
Ecological notes. Reproduction with indirect lecithotrophic type of development, including partial brooding followed by a planktonic phase ( Houbrick 1987).
Lives in intertidal rocky environment. Groups of snails cluster together on large rocks. It grazes on microalgae covering rocky substrates in moderate to low energy habitats ( Houbrick 1987).
In studied sites clusters of this species were found on rocks under trees on seaward edges of mangroves.
Relation to mangroves. Eurybiotic.
Distribution in Vietnam. From northern-east coast to southern delta ( Thach 2005).
General distribution. Throughout Indo-Pacific ( Houbrick 1985).
