Key to females of Dermatopelte View in CoL
My concept of D. budensis is based on the entire series of BMNH specimens determined by Z. Bouček, and on Erdös & Novicky’s description (in Erdös 1951), as I have not been able to gain access to material at HMNH. Although the two new species appear to have obvious color differences ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 , 5, 7, 9), I do not recommend relying upon color alone to separate them.
1. Vertex not carinate. First funicular segment>3x longer than broad. Petiole at most 1.1x longer than broad. Palearctic .......................... D. budensis Erdös & Novicky 1951
1. Vertex carinate behind ocellar triangle. First funicular segment 3x or less longer than broad ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 , 7). Petiole at least 1.4x longer than broad. Nearctic ............................. 2
2. Petiole 2.45x longer than broad, reaching metacoxal apex (Fig. 8). Scape capable of exceeding vertex height (Figs. 7, 10) ................................................... D. yanegai View in CoL n. sp.
2. Petiole 1.45x longer than broad, falling well short of metacoxal apex (Fig. 6). Scape not capable of exceeding median ocellus height ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ) ................ D. sinaloensis View in CoL n. sp.
