The specimen from Italy [Plaisantin, in fact Piacenzien (Pliocene)] is not the same species. Janssen & Krylova 2014: 67; Cosel & Gofas 2019: 1040-1041; Alf & Haszprunar, in Alf et al. 2020: 347-348, pl. 282). However, Carvalho de Lima View in CoL et al. (2020: 7-11) maintain that many of the specimens identified as this species actually represent Cardiomya striolata (Locard, 1897) View in CoL , leaving the distribution of Deshayes’ species yet to be resolved.
