Material examined: BRAZIL: São Paulo State, Estação Ecológica Juréia-Itatins, Peruíbe, 24º31'06''S; 47º12'06''W, Malaise (Trilha 1), holotype male, 3.v.2002, N. W. Peixoto & eq. (PEJU17: BIOTA-FAPESP) ( MZUSP) GoogleMaps . Paratype male, same data as holotype except for 6.v.2002, (PEJU11) ( ZMBN) GoogleMaps .
Diagnostic characters: The large lobe-like superior volsella with median volsella either lacking or fused with inferior or superior volsella is unique within the genus. The presence of a hyaline bare anal point is unique among the Neotropical known species. The inner surface of the gonostylus is covered by long and dense microtrichia like in the trilobata and forcipata subgroups and most of the uncata subgroup.
The species known from São Paulo State, Brazil, is described in detail by Andersen et al. (2010: 49). It is rather different from other members of the angusta group and may not even belong to Pseudosmittia .
