General distribution: Palaearctic (from Europe east to Japan), Oriental, Australasian, Afrotropical ( ssp. leucomelaena Wiedemann ) and Neotropical Regions.

General distribution: Palaearctic Region, from Europe to the Russian Far East, with a more northern and upland distribution than G. maculata .
