Type status. Attems (1929) did not state the number of specimens in his original description. This species is not listed in the catalogues by Weidner (1960) and Rack (1974) but 3 microscope slides, representing type material, are held at the ZMH (note on file card: “3 Präp., Lectotypus, R.E. Crabill rev. und präp. 1962. Das Tier entnahm er dem Alkohol-Material, das Attems ursprünglich als Mecistocephalus spissus Wood (siehe dort) determiniert u. 1907 publiziert hat, später (1929) als eigene Art erkannte. [The specimen was taken by Crabill from the alcohol material that was originally determined and published 1907 by Attems as Mecistocephalus spissus (Wood) but recognized as a new species in 1929.]”). The specimens are interpreted here as syntypes.
Collection remarks. The specimens were collected by Karl Kraepelin during his voyage to India and Java 1903–04. The specimens from Ciampea were taken in forest habitat (“ Wald ”)
