Type locality and specimens. Fundort [locality]: 141. San Sebastian, Barranco de la Villa. Unter Steinen des Talgerölls 13.1.08.—83. San Sebastian, unter Steinen am Sandstrand 24.12.07.

Dimensions. Breite eines 37 mm langen ♀ (grösstes Exemplar) nicht ganz 1 mm. Meist 67 und bei einem Ex- emplar 63 Beinpaare. [Width of the tallest specimen (♀, length 37 mm) almost 1 mm].

Type material. Syntypes 3 ( ZMH-A0000542 , ZMH-A0008165 -A0008166). SPAIN: Canary Islands, La Gomera, San Sebastian [ca. 28°05’N, 17°06’W] GoogleMaps .

Preservation. 1 jar: Label 1. 141 San Sebastian; Label 2. 183 Haus; Label 3. Pectiniunguis melanostictus Att , May L. 1908, d. IV.14, San Sebastian, Gomera, Attems det.

Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 63, No. 27. Syntypes (number not specified).

Type status. Attems (1911a) did not state the number of specimens in his description and all specimens are syntypes.

Additional type material. There are 1♂, 1♀, 3 slides (Mx, Md; head; body) (syntypes) from Spain, Canary Islands, Gomera, San Sebastian, Barranco de la Villa “unter Steinen des Talgerölls ” (coll. W. May, 13.08.1907), held at the NHMW (no. 4917) .

Collection remarks. The specimens were collected by the German zoologist and writer Walter May (1868– 1926) under rocks at a rocky slope (“ Unter Steinen des Talgerölls ”) and under rocks at the beach (“ unter Steinen am Sandstrand ”).

Current systematic position. Nannophilus melanostictus (Attems, 1911) ; transferred to this genus by Attems (1929: 70).
