Type Locality: Mexico, S Oaxaca, 3 km SW San Miguel Suchixtepec, 2250 m, Río Molino.
Vernacular Names: Phillips' Small-eared Shrew.
Distribution: Mexico, S Oaxaca, Sierra de Miahuatlán.
Discussion: C. mexicana group. Described as Notiosorex (Xenosorex) phillipsii but later included in Cryptotis mexicana ; see Choate (1969). Recently resurrected by Woodman and Timm (2000).
